C187 Chinese crankbaits

Anybody bought and painted any of these? I have painted close to 100 of the C55 and C549 and have been tickled to death with the action and how true they run. I can't get any of the C187s to run worth a crap right out of the box. I was wondering what steps need to be taken and if they need to be tuned prior to paint. Supposedly they are tank tested at the factory but I think the tester took a day off when the 20 I just received went thru inspection.

If I catch anything BESIDES a crappie on them, it won't be because I wanted to.

A friend of mine and I went back thru my new, unpainted C187 cranks and found the ball bearing inside the rattle chamber of each one to be rusted. Rusted bearings mean they won't move correctly and won't run correctly. Now I'll see if they are willing to back their baits up with quality control.

Water splash from those Chinese water pipe smoke breaks is the culprit.
