    Default Rod holders

I have an aluminum 12' john boat. I usually just lay my spinning rods down at various angles but it would be better to get some rod holders. The one's I have looked at don't seem set up for a john boat. I could install permanent fixtures but I might want to use the boat for duck hunting, etc. On a fishing rod and reel, just laying the reel on a seat isn't too bad but on a 14' crappie rod there is no reel to act as a counter weight- I need some sort of rod holder. What type arrangements do some of you use? Thanks.

On my 12 and 14 foot boats I mounted a piece of aluminum angle to the inside of the rail. Then mounted a piece of 1" aluminum square tube to it, about 4 foot on each side. Then I mounted some of these, similar because I made them at work.
