nothin to it, replaced mine with a 54" and it works like a champ...
Recently cracked and splintered the shaft on my minn kota powerdrive v2. After some research and a nice guy here in kc jerry from Jerry's trolling motor repair I got a new shaft and was able to remove the old one and replace it. The trick is heating the shaft up to unthread it from the base. I used a small map gas torch and had my brother help me turn it at the same time. It seemed somewhat hopeless at first but as soon as it got hot enough it finally turned out. I cleaned the threads up with a small dental pick and a dermal tool with a wire wheel. Used red locktite on reinstall per jerry. Testing it out in the water tonight. Shaft was 26.31$

DEAD AS FRIED CHICKEN
why pay for it? minn Kota has a lifetime warrantie on shafts
Yep. I changed mine out last year.
in my case i think the previous owner bent it on a stump. it had been cut off to around 40 inches and i bought site unseen. it works like a champ now...

There is a lifetime warranty on the shaft and a three-year warranty on labor. I had to replace mine just a few weeks ago. I had it a little over three years (of course) and the labor charge was $20.00. Dropped it off one day got it back the next. My biggest problem was re-installing the frame to the boat deck. I was concerned with using the same screws in the original deck holes. Solved it by buying a set of those rubber "T's", drilling out the original holes a little and forcing the T's through. Worked great.
GET THE NET HAROLD, GET THE NET!!
This was the issue I had with the repair shop I spoke with which deemed my warranty void
I got tired of trashing my di trans cable so I modified the motor.
