Now hopefully it will stay cold enough for it to stick around. We've had some crazy warm weather this winter so far.
I hope everyone has a safe icefishing season!
Any northern fella's had enough ice on the lake to get out and fish? It should'nt be long until I start pulling those tasty buggers through a couple of eight inch holes!:D

Got our first complete coat of ice this morning. Weather is in single digits at night and only twenties during day so safe ice will not be long.
It is not about the equipment you have to use,
It is about how you use the equipment you have. :D
I am hearing good reports on current ice depths on many of our area lakes.
It's safe to take ATVs and Sleds out on Upper Red and Lake of the Woods.
Many smaller lakes have 6-9 inches already. Plenty to drop in a few lines.

ziggaman, what part of the Range are you from. I'm in the Eveleth Area and this is my first year dedicated to Angling ( I usually Spear in the winter). I just finished a 7x9 Ice house and Plan on putting it out on Ely lake when the Ice is safe (I was out there monday on foot and there was ~3" of ice)

Ice thickness doesn't seem to be any issue.

With this latest batch of warm windy weather the ice conditions have deteriorated fast. I was in Chisholm last night and I see open water on Long Year Lake. Not a good sign.
One lake that has plenty of ice:
