Lee, post up a couple showing it floating. Looks like a project you'll be proud to fish in. Looks real good from where I'm setting. Congrats to you.
Hello all,
I relocated to Arkansas this last December and just finished building a Jon boat. I thought that others would be interested in seeing it. I had a 3.5 HP Johnson motor I brought with us for just this project.
I also would appreciate any suggestions on adding some accessories to support Crappie fishing. Would someone recommend a fishfinder/GPS unit. Because of budget I'm going to purchase one of the 4" units. After doing a bunch of reading I favor the Lowrance units. I'd like to also buy a lake cartography cartridge as well and would appreciate suggestions for that as well.
If any one is interested I'd also send a link to the plans/building instructions. They were published in a handyman magazine quite a few years ago. Key word for me is the boat is big enough for me and the wife and wide enough to feel safe in.
Looking forward to any suggestions you might have.
If you'd like to see some additional pictures just let me know and I'll put some more up.
Regards,
Lee

I like it. How many hours did it take you to complete?
Loks fantastic
Great job Lee ! nice boat, share some more pictures with us. Thanks, Jimmy
A awesome build sir, hats off to ya
Good luck and good fishing
The basic boat only took a week or so to put it together. I have some pretty good tools to help that along. The finish work is what takes the time. I fiber glassed the bottom up to the gunnels. Unfortunately I am not accustomed to the high humidity and tons of rain when I did this part. I had to strip the glass and resin and start all over again. Gotta tell you that is no fun. The work and time is in the prep work and painting. It was a fun build.
I'm really looking forward to learning how to fish in Arkansas. Crappie fishing was a lot of fun when I was a kid but being in the service for 22 years kept me away from home and then the family was started and so on. Now retired and doing the things I love to do the most, shooting guns and fishing!! Life is good!!!
