Kamie met me at the ramp with the statement, "I don't cast very good." She casts just fine.
It was hot and breezy and the main stem of the creek was very dirty. We worked the edges as the tide slowly rose but, nada. Finally a toad fish and it was on and came unbuttoned. It was the first hhit in two hours. It would take two and a half hours more to get another. NO bait moving , no life at all it seemed. Others on the water had the same experience. When the next hit came, it too came off. One important aspect in this type of fishing is the hookset. If you don't set it, the fish WILL come off. Kamie found that out twice tonight. But, third time was a charm. It was hard to not set with me holleriing "SET THE HOOK!" Fish in the boat finally and now she knew what I meant by needing to set the hook.
The next one came and was a nicer fish. As it got darker I told her about the need fish that bait all the way back to the boat. Three cast later, "BLAM!" eight feet off the starboard side. We fished out the main creek and called it a night. We tried to take a picture of the Super Moon but, the photo didn't do it justice. Suffice to say it was beautiful.
