Trying to dodge the Great Lake states' minnow ban? You can also get them at aquarium stores like Petsmart, which sell them as feeder fish (NOT to be confused with their feeder goldfish.) - Roberta

We haven't been able to buy them for a couple years... only shiners.

Great Lake minnow ban? Are they getting loose, growing up and taking over or something?

    Default Minnow ban

Nobody responded to my post a while back on this forum, but you can getu pdated info on the Ohio forum. The feds have instituted a ban on shipping ANY species of fish except (for now) fathead minnows between the Great Lake states due to a viral disease. It's going to really put a crimp on yellow perch guides on Lake Erie. The feds didn't think this one through, as usual. - Roberta

They are now trying to ban fatheads now saying they are the same as bluntnose minnow.

As close as they are genetically, I'm not surprised.
