    Default James A Reed Question

Does anyone know if the crappie at JA Reed are still stunted? I have had a hard time finding them lately from the bank... any tips for these lakes would be greatly appreciated.

As a whole I would probably say yes from my experiences. But don't get me wrong I've pulled decent size out of there 10-11 inch. Plus I don't know if you saw the stories last year someone pulled TWO 2+ pounders out within a couple days of each other and this year another hoss came out. There's some fish worth catching out there.

Thanks! I hadn't really seen any recent reports and was wondering. I appreciate that.

I have never really fished from the bank before but like these lakes because I can teach my kids to disband they don't get bored out there.

Fish the brush along the dams. It's a little deeper there than other parts of the lakes. We had a solid week of kids fishing events out here last week and a few of them caught crappie in the brush off the dam using nightcrawlers

It helps to use small jigs also 1/32 and 1"-1.5" tubes have worked the best for me.

Thanks for the tips. I have had problems figuring out what depth to set the jigs at. using slip bobbers with one sinker about 18" above the jig. using crappie nibbles always... It's easy to catch bluegill out there but I am having problems catching crappie....
