Maybe you are getting that Bass Stink on your crappie baits. Try ares with little to no current, they should be behind something out of the current, may want to tip jigs with a waxworm or net yourself some river shinners if possible.
My last 3 trips to the river I've been mainly bass fishing. But also taking my crappie jigs. Throwing them around trees that are out aways from the bank, with out so much as a single hit. Am I shooting the right structure or am I missing something in river fishig? Or simply need to keep casting that kind of structure?
thanks in advance!

I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it.....

Try in the pockets with low or little current I've been catching them fairly shallow ....
Don't overlook bridge pillars, either !! Especially if logjams have hung up on the concrete pillars. Fish the down current side and end ... vertical jigging if much current & Vertical Casting if not much current.

Proper depth for time of year is critical for finding Crappie.
