Wappapello w/ a new technique

The past few weeks we have been fishing a couple of smaller, private lakes. Trying something different for us. Sitting in deeper (6-15 feet) water and casting to suspended crappie. Cast the 1/8 oz. jig and count down for 3 seconds, then retrieve. Catching upwards of a hundred fish a day. Decided to try it on Wappapello last week. Same scenario, count 1 thousand one, one thousand 2,... start reeling.We only managed 9 good keepers, but we must have caught at least 75 fish. A lot of fun. There were a lot of shad in the area, and we think the fish were feeding on deeper shad. It was an electric chicken kind of day.
