Hi All, Been noticing some folks using snap swivels on the crankbaits. Any +'s or -'s to using them. What size and color do you recommend if you do use them. Pulling mostly Bandit 300's. Thanks

I'm using the fast-lock snaps without the barrel swivel now. I had a brand new barrel swivel break costing me a crankbait a couple of weeks ago. There's usually enough friction resistance to a fish to make the line twist before the barrel will turn anyway in my experience.

I just use the Duo-Lock snaps

#1 or #2 Duo-Lock snaps depending on the size of the crank bait

#1 or 2 Duolock. Do not like snap swivels.

Thanks - I'll give it a try. Do you use the snaps to make I easier to change out the baits or does it add more action to the baits?

There is no practical purpose for using a snap-swivel ahead of a crankbait, instead of just a plain snap. All that extra hardware (the swivel) dampens the plug's action - slightly - and maybe just enough to cost you a fish! Use just a plain snap. Duo's are about as good as you'll find. Always use as little hardware as possible, attached to any plug. That philosophy bodes true for most presentation systems.

Thanks all, Heading to Cabelas this evening to pick up some Dou snaps. As always we appreciate the advice everyone is willing to share.

I haven't been using a swivel in front of cranks but I have been looking at some of the swivels. Not sure yet if I would want to use them.

No swivel, just an all wire snap. Just don't care for any of the ones with sheet metal on it. I think these are cross lok but not sure. The brass ones with sheet metal and a straight tip on the snap wire don't hold up when snagged very well.
