    Default Trouble with Bass

I`ve been having trouble keeping bass off the line before crappie will hit. As long as they stay off I can catch crappie or don`t bite for at least 2 mits then the crappie will take it. The bass are in the range of 15" but I don`t care much for bass. Any advise for a rookie crappie fishman.

the bass are more aggressive so they seem to take the baits first. sometimes the crappie just want to look at it for awhile before they bite, dont know how not to catch bass, I am just thankfull that something bit, most of the time when I catch a couple of bass in one spot I wont catch any crappie from there so i will move to the next spot

I find that when the bass move in, the crappie move out. I usually just move on and try later..

Bass tend to be a more wary species than crappie when they are heavily fished for. If the bass are a popular fishing species in your lake, you could try making your bait look decidedly unnatural. Maybe tying some yarn above the hook in a florescent color that the bass will recognize as fake but won't scare the crappie?

Throw the bass in your livewell and keep fishing. After you catch a few crappies or before you leave the spot, throw them back. They should be alright. If not, you got some fresh bass fillets.:D
