If you are willing to make the drive Atchison state lake just north of Atchison is loaded with eaters.
Well, sold the boat and the yak to trade up for baby #2 this summer. So.....since I don't know where to catch crappie from the banks at Smithville, thought I would try to catch some bluegill - maybe even take my 2 yr old later this summer and fall to give mom and baby some quiet time.
Where is the lake that is known for the big bluegill around KC?
Thanks in advance!

I would look for some farm ponds to fish.
I have always done best on Westside but the whole lake is good

It's managed for trophy bluegill and I've seen whoppers come out of there.
3 miles north of Platte City. 1st or 2nd exit after Hwy. 92 (Where the big antique store can be seen from northbound I-29) Take 371 north and watch for the sign.
There's always a place to park at Guy B Park park.
