    Price!

VMC is a great hook but the barbarian is IMO waaaay overpriced for a jig hook. They use top of the line materials and have a good product subject to human error as does everyone else.

The Matzuo is a great hook as well very sharp and affordable plus is available in a larger variety of sizes.
I buy my hooks 1,000 at a time, I get a box, I sacrifice 5 hooks for destructive testing if they break during my tests, I send them back. Have not had a problem getting replacements.

Good luck with your search. I have pretty much switched over everything to the Matzuo hook and keep asking matzuo about a long shanked version but never get an answer.

I am a fan of VMC. My favorite hooks. With that being said, they do not have a very good process of making red hooks. The red starts to come off when you put the hook in a vise or after the first fish you catch.
