    Default Smithville 5/17

Got on the lake early this morning around 6. Hit some main lake spots caught a few on blk/char jigs in shallow water . The fish seemed to shut off around 7:30 or at least what we thought. After that we went to scout some areas of main lake that I haven't explored much. Found some nice timber and brush piles in 15 Fow .. Let the bait sink to the bottom and as soon as it lifted they would take it. Caught several fish and kept moving from stump to stump from 20 Fow to 15 Fow the same thing,, they obviously moved deep. After many short fish ended up with 8 keepers by noon.. All in all it was slow. They seemed to like minnows more than jigs in the afternoon.

Great job. I put in W bridge after 4 this afternoon. Had 8 keepers by 6:30 north of wildlife refuge. Water temp was 68 to 71 with muddy water. Caught mine casting to bank with slow retrieve. They were hitting as jigs fell. Just kept moving along bank picking most up where rocky bank changed to dirt bank. Only had 3 shorts so mostly keepers using acid rain still. Will be back tomorrow.

Nicely done love2fish . I debated going north but didn't. Sounds like I should have. Bought several packs of acid rain grubs and didn't even get a bite on one going south..sounds like I need to follow you next time

CrappieWhispererr - I hope to be on the water by 4 and headed north. Have a graduation party to go to before I can fish. Will be looking for you if your on the water that late. I'll be in the same cove I saw you in last Saturday.
