Advice on Crappie Vacation

So, I have some time off work during January, February and the first week of March of next year. Being from PA I'd like to avoid FL and TX, simply due to the distance. Since I have world class ice fishing to the north, I'm looking for open water suggestions to the south.
I'd prefer some place that has boat rentals and such to save me the trouble of towing my boat, though I can if needed.
Or, should I just stick with ice fishing during those months?

Wiskers is a member here and is one of the best crappie fishermen I have ever shared a boat with. He targets crappie in the late winter/early spring when the lakes are much less crowded. That falls into the time frame you are looking at.

Look at crappie masters results from Grenada lake this year. Record breaking. I am going just as soon as I find the means and my son gets old enough to handle a trip like that

If your looking for warm weather the only choice is Florida.

I fished with Terry Whaley this year at Weiss lake Alabama and had an absolute BALL...... Talked to Darrell Baker at the lodge the next morning and on the water later that day ( fished out of my boat the 2nd and 3rd day) and I would not hesitate to schedule a Weiss Tripp with him either.... We went early march this year and feb last year. Looking fwd to next year all ready.

Define warm weather?
To me anything above freezing in the dead of winter is warm weather.

If your looking for warm weather the only choice is Florida.

I'm not really concerned about my comfort, heck I icefish, just somewhat active fish.............for that time frame..
