    Default Water Temp Here

Our water temp is about 50 degrees right now (western MA). Ice just got off the lakes about 3 weeks ago. Warming up fast though. We went out a few days ago and caught just about everything that swims; LM bass, crappie (mostly), bluegill, yellow perch, pickeral and even some stocked rainbows. All were in 8' - 12' breaks. Casting 1/16 oz. jigs with Bobby's straight tailed shad bodies on the back side. Had many doubles. No big crappie though. All small, but fun on 2# test UL rigs we were using. The northeast is heating up!

Been soooo slow to warm up here. I'm usually in a tee shirt and knee deep in bass by now. Feel like the temperature (and fishing) is where it would usually be mid-march. What a wierd year for weather. Although the extended ice fishing season was nice :D And the spring crappie blitz will probably be prolonged. Any one (in Mass.) know if the stripers are in yet?
