You can adjust the range to get a better look, but really shallow water is difficult to get good images.
How can I change the screen size when in shallow water. When viewing in 5 foot or less, it is hard to see any images on sonar or structure mode. Any help would be appreciated. HDS 7 unit. This is my 1st unit in 10 yrs and I realize these are outdated now, but the 7 and 8 came on the boat and no manual. I have watched youtube and learned alot.

I think you can go to Lowrance's web site and download a manual. I know some people on here also copy the manual to an SD card and put in a file on the unit so you have it out on the lake.

Does Lowrance have a "Lower Range " setting that allows the user to move the bottom detail to the bottom of the screen...??
This will, in effect "stretch" the water column vertically down the screen making structure in shallow water look bigger on the display...

Yes Lowrance has a lower and upper range adjustment, also a bottom lock.
HDS manual http://www.lowrance.com/Root/Lowranc...0041-001_w.pdf. The range settings are in the sonar menu.
The only Lowrance units that will read a .pdf file (that I know) are the Touch.
