    Default brim hot hotspot

To make a brim hotspot, all you have to do is take a can of dog food and punch a bunch of holes in it ,then tie it to a limb hanging over the water. When the flies blow on the dogfood the maggots will drop in the water and you will have a great spot to take a kid fishing.

    Default maggots for brim, crappie

Somewhere I read that the BEST way to get maggots for a HOT SPOT is to pick up some roadkill, take it to the lake and tie it up on a limb that hangs over the water. When the flies blow the roadkill the maggots will fall off of the kill and feed the fish for a while.
You may have to anchor your boat DOWN WIND to fish the spot, but you should not go away with an empty cooler.
I understank that some fishermen always have a bent wire coat hanger somewhere in their vehicle.

I think I would rather handle the dog food instead of road kill.

The road kill works really good. I saw some hanging over a spot that i hadn't fished in months and decided to give it a try. Hammered the gills and crappies. But he's right about staying up wind. I had to move the boat a few times and a little farther away.:D

If you just order the maggots then go fishing with them, you have not created a "feeding frenzy" location where you can go to for several days and be guaranteed to filling the cooler.

I use bait cubes. They're freeze dried cubes made by Joe Kullis. www.kastaway.com is his website.

I chum with the maggots I buy and create a feeding frenzy any time or place I want.
