That's awesome
I would like to share this with you. My dad is a WWII veteran and has been invited to join other WWII veterans on a trip to Washington DC.
Many of you may already know about this program honoring our veterans.
Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America's veterans for all their sacrifices. They transport our heroes to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials.

It's a program financed strictly by private donations that takes these veterans from all over the country on a one day trip to our nation's capital for a tour and a visit to the National WWII Memorial. We went to the orientation yesterday and made preparations for his trip. We we're met by dozens of volunteers who participated in the process. It sure made you stop and think seeing 75 men and 1 woman from central Florida that served our country during WWII all gathered in one place. The woman veteran was 99 years old and still walking with very little assistance. It was a very patriotic event thanks to the many volunteers.
This will be dad's "Guardian" for the trip....he was very pleased with who they assigned to him!! All Guardians actually pay their own way ($500)
The veterans will depart from the Sanford/Orlando airport on April 26th at 4AM and return that evening around 11PM. My dad as well as all the other vets are really looking forward to the trip. I plan to post some of the pictures from his trip when he returns.

That's great Mike, congrats to your dad & THANKS to him & all the veterans who have served !!
The finest gift you can give to any fisherman is to put a good fish back, and who knows if the fish that you caught isn't someone else's gift to you?"
My dad made his trip on Saturday.......Left a 4AM and returned from Washington after midnight due to a flight delay. He had a BIG time and the ceremony was as good as it gets. Each veteran was fed breakfast before they boarded and was escorted by an honor guard. When they returned they were met with another honor guard and honor parade. These folks went all out and I can't say enough about them. Here are some photos of his trip. I haven't had much of a chance to talk with him about the trip. He's still catching up on his rest etc.
