Have mine 10 ft apart. No problems. Butt forward. Get you some Velcroe cable ties from office supply. Wrap about a foot back from tips keeps them from banging into each other when transporting.
Hey Crappie People,
I've seen pictures and videos of long crappie rods stored In racks mounted on the gunnel of the boat. I've got 14 &12 ft. crappie rods. Is there a "best" spacing between handle rack and tip rack, and what is best? Handles towards the front of the boat, or the tips?
Regards,
Salmontracker <t><

This might be a stupid question but how do you guys fish with a big rack with a bunch of poles running down the side of your boat. Do you take it down after you get to where you are going or what?
fish off the front, fish off the other side, or fish off the back. my long rods on the rack never seem to be in the way.
smiles are contagious, spread them around

I built a sort of hybrid rack using HiTek uprights and Driftmaster tip savers. Most of the factory racks I looked at were going to be too high for the trolling I do 99% of the time. I put mine in how ever they will fit for the particular day we are fishing. Doesn't look as orderly as most pics I see here but it works for me.
