Default Looking for 8ft spinning rod... Suggestions?

I was looking for an 8 ft rod for casting small floats but I don't want it to be a noodle... I have a 7ft Sam heaton that I feel like is to limber and I want something a little longer... This 8ft rod will be used for casting smaller fixed floats (hopefully a good distance). I was looking at the Bnm ultimate 8ft but the website calls it super stiff??? I want some backbone but nothing crazy... Do you all have any suggestions On an 8ft spinning rod or anyone have any experience with the ultimate? I just don't like jigging guides and would prefer a spinning rod... I'd like to keep price under $130... Thanks guys

    Three options:

    Bass Pro Microlite

St. Croix - they have several models that would work for you

Cabela's Fish Eagle II light steelhead rod - any light steelhead rod will work, but Cabela's are cheaper than most

I'd look at BnM's site ... at the Float n Fly rods selection.

I have two of the 8ft rods from being a field tester for BnM, for this rod. They do have a very short handle, with a weight/balance system in the butt end ... but, they're good rods and made for that type of casting.
If you don't think you'd care for the short handled/weight balance setup ... then I'd say take a look at the 9ft Tenn handle version. The Tenn cork handle will also allow you to balance the outfit with a larger range of reels (size & weight).

I, too, have a 7' Sam Heaton ... and agree that the IM6 blank & parabolic bend of the rod makes it seem somewhat flimsy. The 8' FnF rod is also IM6 & has a parabolic bend ... but, the blank is bigger & beefier, so it doesn't bend as easily as the Heaton rod.

The ultimate will work fine, I have a couple. I use it for flipping a cork, action is just right for it.
