Great report. Thanks.
I fished the old channel below Truman this morning and it was tough.
Ended up with 12 keepers 5 of which were over 11" and biggest was
14". Started out drifting and caught a 2' gar . Anchored near the end
and started catching them with bobber 5' deep over 18 - 23' of water
also caught 3 blue cats and a white bass all on jigs tipped with
minnows . Best color today was black / fluorescent green tail.
Water was stained and the wind was howling from several directions.
Water temp started At 43 ° f and at 1:30 was 46° f.
Had the best luck for the bigger fish slow tolling over schools
of shad mid day. Nice to meet you Jeff and hope you found them.

Thanks Travis. Good to meet you.
God bless Charlie Brewer and Bobby Garland.
Good report
sounds like a good day, other than the wind. any shad around drake or the dead channel yet?
great report tackle box, I'm still trying to get it working. I caught 2 at Truman yesterday and struck out at Longview today.
Yes the dead channel had large schools in it. Made it hard to locate
the feeding fish that were higher in the column. The biggest advantage
I had today was the throws with the shad nets in the past. You can actually
learn a lot about open water crappie while trying to catch bait. Good luck
tomorrow.
thanks for the luck. and I agree, that throwing the net helps you learn whats down there. the few times I have fished for shad in the dead channel, I'd see a school of fish on the finder and toss the net, only to pull in a net full of 8 inch crappies. would have swore they were shad in a loosely bunched school.... only place I have ever caught more crappies in the net than shad.
