We like minn kota. We have better luck with them. The shafts are sturdier. The shafts on the Motorguides will bend when you accidentally hit something. It seems the composite shafts are much better. Never bent one of them.
I'm looking at a minn kota edge or a motorguide x3. Any opinions on which is better?

Minn-Kota
Minn-Kota all day long
Minn kota! Don't know about new motorguides but the ones I've had in the past were loud.
Minn-Kota for sure. I did bend the shaft on my Maxxum 55 ft lbs 12 volt about 6 months ago. I understand that the low torque motor has a smaller shalt. I dead-centered a stump at full speed (2.0mph) almost put me out of the boat. Straightened the shaft and it's been working great.
Well, guess I'll go ahead and say it........Minn Kota.
I have had no issues with my minkota and those is my third boat
with it.
Never had a Motorguide. Have a Minnkota Max 80 on my 21 foot fish and ski. Have hit several underwater obstructions since buying the boat in 2006. No obvious damage to the motor or shaft. Am planning on upgrading and am staying with Minnkota. Planning on getting a new Terrova model sometime soon.
I have a motorguide wireless and hve had to work on it every year since it was new. get a minnkota and go fishing
