Default Thinking about Buying a older boat

    Looking at a 2005 Skeeter,look's good for the age,run's good with a yamaha 150,asking 13.000. What'`s you all's thoughts on buying a boat 9 years old.

I have a 2000 Tracker which is 14 years old with a95 Yammy. I am so used to the boat and all its quirks that I don't think about the age. It is still going strong, so I think you would be fine unless it has been abused.

My advice is to have it checked out by a reputable marine mechanic Before you buy it.

I have been using a 1979 Ozark tri hull with 100 hp Evinrude that I bought when it was 10 years old. Best boat I ever owned.

If it starts and runs fine and does not leak. I don't care what it's birth certificate says.

Here's my take. I have a 1978 1652 flat bottom polarkraft. Boat doesn't leak, not even a drop. My motor is a 1983 johnson 35 hp that runs like a scalded dog (I'm my own mechanic). I have a new trolling motor, a hand made trolling rack, and side by side seats up front. My point is, age doesn't matter as long as it runs good and is functional.

I have a 91 skeeter with a 150 yammy, it has been a great buy, it was 10 or more years old when I bought it! Dfar has offered some good advice, have it checked out. I would like a newer boat, but only because the newer models are wider up front! I will buy used next time I upgrade. Seems fair but I would research the price. I don't even know what it is worth.
