IMHO .... longlining, spider rigging, pushing, pulling, side pulling, and any other method where you are fishing while the boat is moving by way of big motor or trolling motor and your lines/baits are in the water & being moved through the water ... that's "Trolling". Each of those differently named methods are just a specific kind of trolling. They're named to differentiate between the different styles of trolling.
I think of the word "trolling" as the title of a book ... and the longlining, pushing, pulling, etc. methods as chapters of that book. Trolling is the theme of the story, and the different methods are the different story lines based on that theme.

Long lining for me is when I use my TM to pull my little jigs (Roadrunners) and for this I just cast out to the side and back about as afar as I can a 1/32 oz jig and run my TM on about 3 or .6 to .8 MPH. I use one rod and hold it all the time.

It depends on what part of the country you're in. Everybody seems to call the same techniques something different. To me, trolling is moving the boat while you're fishing. How fast you move the boat and how you rig is what determines if it's slow trolling, spider rigging, long lining, etc.
