That little ditty is actually more about barometric pressure changes, than it is about "wind". It's the direction of the wind that signals where the High/Low pressure cells are, in relation to your area. It probably does have an effect on the quality of fishing, but as I've caught fish with winds blowing from all four directions ... I don't necessarily take it as a prime factor in whether to go or not. But, I can always use it as an "excuse" for not catching anything during a East or North wind, and doing good during a West or South wind

Wasn't true yesterday. Winds were east and we were catching nice fish on Grenada. Wind shifts to west and they all but shut down.

You got it wrong...Wind from the east they bite like a beast. Fish bite everyday. Doesn't make any difference about wind, barometric pressure, water color, moon phase, or anything else. We all have our fishing "ruts" we get into and we have our favorite places and our favorite rigs and tend to stay within our own "fishing comfort zone". When conditions change and our normal fishing method/location doesn't work, we tend to blame it on something, when actually all that happened is that we were a sorry fisherman on that day. Crappie cannot go to the corner grocery and get their food, neither can they predict when they get their next meal. When they do find that next meal they will eat and eat and eat until they are completely gorged and they will still hit your "bait". I cannot emphasize how important it is to be versatile. Don't be afraid to change or do something completely different than you normally do. Knowing your water is extremely important and it goes much further than knowing that favorite honey hole that someone showed you back in the day. The key to catching is the crappie nose. You find that crappies nose and hang a bait in front of it presented in the manner he is looking for, and he will hit it every time. Good luck catching...everyday.
