I tried my handicap scooter battery and it didn't do too bad got about a little over one hour off it 33ah it still turned the prop but not good enough against a wind of 5-10 mph
A scooter battery likely doesn't have enough max amp draw. You'll probably fry it! Most scooter batteries are SLA, which are built for slow even draw down and slow even recharge. The fast drawdown of an electric trolling motor might damage the battery, and at $70 a pop it would not be worth it!
With the high load of a TM, expect to only use 50% of the battery capacity at most. It will not give a full capacity discharge being drawn so quickly. An hour sounds about right for a 12v TM.
For reference, a typical group 24 deep cycle has about 80 amp hours of juice. Group 27 about 95, group 29 about 110.
you have to remember I don't go full blast,it's mostly very slow, I needed a light weight battery I can't lift a heavy battery. and at Home Depot the battery is only $40. If I get 10 trips with it that's only $4.00 a trip. cheap and light
get 2 and tie them in parallel ...they will double run time + and keep weight down ( just lift 2 ...1 at a time will cost twice as much but batterys wll last longer (life) my 2c
Yeah I guess, but to me $4 an hour is pretty expensive fishing!
when it's the difference between fishing and not fishing the battery is very minor. it's 1:16 pm I ''m home and 34 crapppie. still got battery another fine day
