Batteries/pulling crankbaits

Question....when pulling crankbaits, how long do the batteries normally last? Trolling at 1.5 to 2mph really takes a toll on my battery. Am I missing something on trolling with crankbaits?

Have a 17 ft bass tracker with 43 lb thrust trolling motor. Size 27 battery?

I have a Targa 185 dc with a terrova 24 volt, have 2 29 series batteries, can do 8 hrs at 1.5 with no problems. Always charge your batteries as soon as possible after fishing

one battery wont cut it, either go to a 24 80lb or get another battery and hookup parrell to give you longer running time

Pound for Pound, AGMs never run as long between charges as wet cells.

Could troll all day long with a Walmart group 27 and 55 terrova on a 542 war eagle loaded heavy. Haven't pulled cranks but once with the new boat. The 55 on one battery ran fine for 3 hours or so on the Excel 1860, but I don't think it would have run all day. Looking forward to pulling cranks with the 80/24v motor and seeing how it does.

I use CART batts and am a firm belieder in them, with that said they dont fit every application. Weight is relative to batts lasting, a 50 pound batt aint donna hang in there near as good as same the 90 pounders I have in the Cat. If wieght is a issue get a couple of 31s and try them paralell and then if you decide to wich to 24v down the road its a simple wire swat to be going. Dont just add a new batt to your old one, old one will pull the new one down to where it is. Good luck

To get any real life out of batteries pulling cranks you need a motor with the Maximizer variable speed. A 5 speed motor draws to much juice to be really effective for pulling even with 2 batteries for any length of time.
