    Default Who like cane poles?

I was just wondering how many others out there like to fish cane poles? Me and my younger son like to use reel and rods , but my older son likes to fish with a cane pole. He even named his pole and thats the only one he will use.

I like cane poles in some situations. We keep them on hand on my barge for the kids as they are obviously easy to use. The also work great for nightstalking if you need a few extra rods.

I have some curing at my house right now getting them ready to go next spring.

I use them every so often. Brings back memories of snatching 'Gills out from around cattails.

Only used a cane pole when I was a kid in the rivers.

I have several fiberglass poles but I have found them to be too limber to pull crappie from the type structure I fish in. I fish mainly laydowns in the river and you must have a stiff pole to get them out. And then lots of times you will still get hung up. I have found the more cover the better they like it.

Gooch, how do you rig your cane poles for nightstalking? Do you use corks or tightline and do you paint the rod tips?

Same here, they're lighter than cane.

I LOVE MESELF!...I used them many years, but they make better habitat than fishing poles. Bring back good memories though. My gramps was a cane pole addict. No rod and reels were allowed in his boat...
