I use Academy Brand florescent green & Mr Crappie florescent green. 8# & 6# test
I don't find either a bad line but I re-spool 1 or 2x a yr & spray em both with line conditioner occasionally.

Sounds like you were using the "newer" version of Mr Crappie line ... made in Taiwan ??

I used to use Mr Crappie Super Hi-vis (USA made) in 4lb test, for casting jigs, and liked it fine. Switched over to 6lb test, recently, and am using Vicious Panfish hi-vis ... and like it better.

The day before I use my outfits, after they've been sitting for any length of time, I will take them outside & tie off the line ... walk off about 80ft ... pull & hold the line to stretch it out a few times ... untie the line and reel it back on the reel under finger/thumb tension. This usually takes the coils/twists out & relaxes the line, plus spools the line back onto the reel good & tight.

something smooth, strong, limp, small dia.?
That's the definition of a braid, along with zero memory and zero stretch.

I don't fall in the line watcher category. Most of the time I'm using seaguar red label 4# fluorocarbon (2lb dia). I fish a sand pit that has 20'+ visibility and if you do not use fluorocarbon you won't get a bite, with a high quality rod you don't need to see a bite... you can feel a fish fart next to your jig.

Of course I'm throwing light jigs, not vertical jigging stumps or trolling with 8 rods. Totally different fishing style.

Get you a spool of BoneHead braid. All the reports I have seen on it are great.
