    Default cleaning cork handles

I have cork handles on rods that have gotten a little grimy. What is something that works good to clean them?CF

It may be the totally wrong way to do it but I sand all mine with 1000 grit when they get nasty. Takes the top layer off but don't leave scratches

Dawn dish washing soap and warm water. Light scrubbing with bottle brush.

The absolute best method I've discovered was Brillo / SOS soap pads. The amount of cork that is removed is so miniscule you can't even measure it, yet the soap in the pads cleans the cork handles like new.

You are not removing any cork, you are removing the cork sealer that protects the cork. Be sure to re-seal with u40 every time you scrape or sand a cork handle.
