Question Swan Creek WMA Water Release?

Anyone know if they are starting to let water out of Swan Creek WMA on the West end back into the Lake? How long do they normally let water out once they start?

i can find out. but they let it run till it stops. last year they didnt use the culbert that joins to west dyke to flood the dewatering area because the metal pipe had rust damage and was washing the levi out. i dont know if they released it that way or not.

I know the fish will move in there if they let that water out. Would be great to know how they are going to let the water out this year now that the Youth Waterfowl hunt is over.

That culvert at the west dyke is a honey hole when water is running one of my favorite spots

i know they were supposed to replace the steel culvert with a concrete one. it lasted 18 years. the last i heard was the state was trying to get Decatur Utilities to help with the cost. not sure why. im glad they put the culvert there but for 35 years they filled and drained the area on the east end.

Me and my son went down there last Monday and were told they weren't going to open it this year due to the culvert being messed up. Guess he lied to us to keep us away from his spot...lol. Will have to give it a go tomorrow evening.

I was there today and it looks like a slow leak or an overflow. Not sure. Never saw it when it's opened.
