Default Question for those making and fishing the jig spins (horse/pony heads)

Has any one thought of painting the back side of the blades similar to the body color they are using, And if done Wouldn't the blade need to be roughed up a bit so the paint would adhere to it? Just a thought.

I actually like the back side of the blade to stay the blade color. Now I do paint the front of them by tapping the paint on. That nickle, brass or copper flash every other spin I think helps, like to think the fish see it as another fish chasing it. Plus with paint both sides it does change the weight of it. If you powder paint them you don't have to rough them up they powder just fine.

Here's a couple with the front side painted

Here's how I bend the spinner wire to hold the blades - and the curing tray with the wire through and the blades ready for curing. Cure time is the same as jigs

Everything Fatman said. I paint a lot of my blades with powder paint. I would think though if you are using regular paint the may need scuffing to get it to adhere.

Thank you Fatman,Cray, and ifish. It was a thought I had, and wanted to make sure I wasn't thinking down the wrong path. Just thinking a bit ahead, trying to figure a few things out in my head. I greatly appreciate the come back and info. Eric

Eric, if your not really into painting and just going to do a few then Janns Netcraft sell as small painted blades in a few colors pretty reasonable. They are painted on both sides though.
