Question Guides up or guides down poll

Here is an interesting poll for all of you to participate in. When you are crappie fishing, do you prefer to have your guides up or your guides down? Personally I like mine guides down because at my age I can see the line better. I have seen it done both ways on many of the popular TV shows.....Angling Edge, Hank Parker, Jimmy Houston,Wally Marshall, etc. Take the poll please and add your comments. I only use open face reels and lite line.

There's no choice for "depends on how I'm fishin". I tightline with baitcasters, so guides up. I longline with spinners, so guides down.
You just gonna sit there an argue, or fish?

Sorta depends on the reel. It would be kinda hard to keep them up with a spinning reel.

I use low profile bait casters on all my trolling rods but still go guides down. I use the small crappie maxx level winds on my jig'n poles and they are held guides down also.

Ship ... I've seen TV ads where people were holding a spinning reel UP and reeling BACKWARDS, so I have no doubt that some would put a spinning rod/reel outfit in a rod holder UPSIDE DOWN

Be that as it may ... I put MY spinning outfits in my rod holders, guides down. Makes them easier to reach over & remove from the holders, flexes the rod in the direction it was intended to bend, and puts the weight of the reel below the plane of the holder ... which helps seat the rod into the holder grooves, & not be top heavy, out of balance, and/or subject to being in the way of removing the rod from the holder.

    ... cp

Guides down when using spincasters...guides up when using baitcasters. No option for both!

The spine of any rod is aligned with the guides. To reverse it would take away the action meant by the builder.

I don't understand? If you rotate the rod/reel on the right you have the same thing as on the left pic. As far as I know all/most spinning reels are made to be on the underside of a rod.

I should have put a different reel on the other photo. It was just meant to show the guides position.
