Went on a little road trip with dad today, figured we'd try something new.
Stopped at Pomona first, since I'd seen that that's the place to be right now on the docks. However, the wind was about 25mph MORE than was forecasted, and since dad didn't have any cold weather gear we vetoed that idea. Looked like around 50 people on the docks anyways, little crowded.
So we decided to check out Melvern's heated dock since I fish Marion a lot. Yall weren't kidding about being able to see everything in there! Love the setup and it was nice and toasty inside. Fishing was pretty cold though, could only muster up 3 small 6-8" crappie while looking at big ones swimming around and laughing at my lures. All 3 were caught on little banana jigs. Another gentleman was there the same time we were and caught 4 or 5, he was using what looked like a hair jig of some sort.
Came home empty handed but enjoyed a new lake for once. Sucks that it's 150 miles from home but I'll be back at some point when the action picks up. Seems like it would be an awesome lake during pre-spawn or the spawn for crappie and white bass!
I also tried the heated dock twice and both times it was slim pickings. I think there were 7-8 people there last time I went and believe in 4-5 hours there were 2 keepers.
thanks for the report guys glad to get off that Pomona dock
If you are into white bass Melvern is okay but Redmond is where it's at.

Hey Zummy where would you catch them at Redmond this time of year. I've fished in the fall where you just fancast the gates from the lakeside but what would you do this time of year?
I'm interested to hear where the white bass are at also. Redmond when the water is running was really good then it just shut down.
