I bought a abugarcia "vigilante" spinning rod at walmart the other day for about 37$. When I went to check out, they asked if I wanted a $4 something or other for full year or 2---I can't remember which, of warranty. I jumped on that, as I like the feel of the rod (I've had one before) and I've had several rods snap for no apparent reason under a year old....... The shakespeare 19.95 stuff is not that great, to me. They are too willow switchy and just plain don't feel good. I also don't like the cheap plastic ring that you tighten up on the reel, which are bad about breaking. Then again, lots of more expensive rods have those, too.
