Thanks for sharing. Have heard more of these stories where a guy with 30+ yrs experience with boats not making it out alive. Recently had one in North Georgia that did not make it.

I always wear my life jacket with the kill switch attached to it. What is amazing is I have caught grief about it from more than one of my fishing buddies, especially when it is 95 degrees.

I was ejected this fall with the kill switch attached and life jacket on. All that was hurt was my pride. I did get a little cold finishing the boat ride to the ramp.

Makes you think, of course I'm not smart enough to where a helmet on my motorcycle. We had a guy last year in my home lake drown last winter while falling out trolling. He had the continuous switch on, they found the boat circling in the lake, found him dead the next day in some brush. Water was cold, and he was still fully clothed. He couldn't get to the boat apparently. If you ever get in that position, get out of as many clothes as you can when you can't get to the boat, if not you will be under in 60 seconds

THanks for the story. I am also guilty of not hooking up the kill switch on my boat because it is a pain. I am now thinking about using a snap like the one used to hold the life vest closed. Should be a lot easier than opening a hook. Will let you guys know how it works out.
