    Default Let's talk Power Pro...

I'm starting my research for cranking/longlining...

    (This thread is awesome...http://www.crappie.com/crappie/showt...ing-Cranks-101 ...)

Tell me your Power Pro choice and why...http://www.powerpro.com/publish/cont...er_pro_v2.html

    Hi-vis is a given....

Line strength lb...?? (is there a reason...??.... or "that's just what I use"...)

Power Pro braided or Super Slick...?? (is there a reason...??.... or "that's just what I use"...)

Power Pro Zero Impact...has anyone tried it...??

Is there a "happy medium" Power pro that will work for both cranking and longlining...??

I use power pro 10 lb regular on my casting jig rod. I mainly fish from the bank and am able to save a lot of jigs that get hung up by being able to bend the hook and not break the line. Next reel fill I'm going to try the super slick to see if I can get a little more distance.

Power pro regular in hi vis yellow in 10/2 size. I use it mostly during winter while vertical jigging. Brushpiles being grabby and the light bite detection, plus the smaller diameter lets the jig get under the rod tip faster. I see the fish and brushpile on the depthfinder with the nose of the boat into the wind, lift the foot off the TM, and as the wind blows me to a stop and the jigs come underneath, if it's all working right, then comes the THUMP! Going to try the braid trolling cranks this summer and will probably get more depth from the smaller diameter.

I use 30# for riggin and pullin,I dont like breaking off. If you lose a crank its 3 to 5 bucks. When we fished in the spring Rickie, thats what was on my rods. You can get a 1500yd spool from E Bay for around 90 bucks.

I use powerpro braid 30lb , recommend by another member here.the main thing i like about the braid it lasts a lot longer and with
30lb i only loose 1 or 2 cranks a year.the only thing i dont like is their is no line stretch, takes a steady retreive when reeling in or u will lose. A few fish.

One thing I noticed with my first experience (crankin with Wilbur...thanks Bill)...that a tangle with the Power Pro braid is possible to work the tangle out without cutting and losing excessive line...

Is it even possible to work out a tangle with the Power Pro Super Slick...??

I use 8 and 10 lb fireline on everything and it works good for me. I tried mono and it breaks way to easy for me.You could tow your truck with the braid i think and never break it. It saves alot of tackle in a years time

How is the Power Pro holding up color wise? A guide buddy of mine says it fades pretty bad quickly. Of course he's using his most every day.

Are you braid pullers using it all the way to the lure on cranks? I know lots of folks like a leader of flourocarbon for jigs but I see no advantage to that for pulling loose hung up cranks.
