There have been reports of false spawn (no survival of eggs) in crappie during the Fall in northern states and some successful fall spawning down south in Florida in September and October, but my guess would be they are just getting ready for spawning. April isn't too far off. Fish develop their eggs over winter in preparation for the spring spawn. As far as why eggs are running out, quit squeezing them so hard! It could be pressure change (air bladder expansion forcing some out) from catching the crappie deep and reeling them in quickly. The eggs may be a little further developed this year for whatever reason as well.
