Default What makes a crappie a "slab" crappie ?

I hear the term used alot from bragging fisherman in my area, seems they call every crappie a "slabber". What is the a true definition of what make a crappie a slab crappie ? I thought I'd read 12" and over is considered a "slab" , but had also heard this term is used for 16" and over crappie too. Just curious, get's old hearing people call 9"- 10" crappie "slabbers" all the time, when I'd call them average for the area. -Thanks

Kyron4 what makes a woman a pretty woman? There is no "true definition" of a slab crappie. I believe it is a personal thing so personally I think anything over 12" is a slab.

We consider a crappie over 15 inches a slab....But just as cheez said ..It's all up to who's doing the fishing and where...

Up here in Pa., we call anything over 10"s and fat, a slab. 13 and 14" fish aren't that common in these parts.

    Default Slab

If you can put a Coke A Cola can in it's mouth it's a slab from Grenada Lake or Arkabutla Lake, they say...........

    Cool

Here in Tennessee any crappie 14 inches or over qualifies for a State Citation...I reckon that's what we'd call a "Slab"...BTW, I released one over 14 " a coupla weeks ago since it was the only one I caught...didn't know about the Citation rules then (ouch)....

    Bushrod :-(
