I use a Motor Guide 24V with 72 lbs of thrust.

Anchor stays in the storage box.

Red, I have 2 Deck Mate 25's made by power winch. I like them pretty good. Well made and will handle a 25 lb anchor. Only negative is they are free fall not power out. Good if anchoring in deeper water not in shallow all the time. Drive gear on motor shaft is on a worm shaft. When dropping anchor you run in down mode until shaft unscrews drive gear from main gear on anchor drum thus letting it free fall. Does not reengage when you let off button. To lock in place you have to run motor in up position until drive gear reengages drum gear. That cost me a anchor and rope last January. Wind was blowing hard and dropped anchor, didn't get engaged and rope wasnt tied to drum properly. Drum kept paying out line until it came off. Shame on me for not unrolling and checking. Other than that they work well. Don't know anything about how the others operate.

Love my Minn Kota. Use it more in the salt than fresh and it's held up well. You can get spoiled to 'em real easy.
You just gonna sit there an argue, or fish?

I have two ,one ft and one in back, one is free fall and the other slowly unwind, been on there for a while but rarely use them because with max 70cable drive keeps me over where i want to be,may fish one side then fish different angle to find prefence,if you can not hold boat in place good then i would say buy them,if i ever have leg problem i will start using them or if battery gets weak.no cons yet with them

I have two on boat one in front is free fall one in back is gear fall, rarely use them with my 70 cable.i might fish one side for a while then go to other side to see if bite is better, good units and if leg get bad or bettery was to get weak then would use it. If you having problem staying where you want to be then they should be great for you,i see enough that can not stay of top of where they want to be and think it would be great for them but need to use lite wire hooks to pull lose
