Crank baits?

Just curious to see if anyone throws crank baits for crappie? I read a artical in crappie world about guys using them for slaps for this time of the year. If you do have any luck, what brands and style of cranks are you throwin.

I have some luck on bandits usually the 200 series. I sometime use a Little "N" by Bill Norman. But becarfull I lost a huge crappie this fall on a bandit cause I was horsing him think it was a soft biting bass or something else. It looked to be 15 to 17 inches when it rolled. And you know when one gets off you are allowed to add to the inches of the fish but I didn't do that this time. LOL

I used a small crank bait this fall at one of my ponds and caught loads of crappies not sure if its the pond of if a crankbait is just a good crappie bait havent used it anywhere else for crappies.

How true! Nothing in this world grows as fast as a fish that got off the hook!!

Yep it never seems to fail a fish that gets off is 2lbs or better..haha

Thats for sure. I have no idea how many new state and world record crappie I have lost. Well, it could have been.

We've used the Yozuri Snap Bean with some success. I usually only throw it when nothing else is working. Doug has used a diving bait to set his depth when trolling, but usually picks up fish on his jig or fly trailer rather than the crank. - Roberta

I get them on a #5 shad rap. I cast to laydowns on the shoreline and i also flatline troll them. Both ways i get good results.
