Default Taking my boys to Medina Lake

I need to put some hours on my boat. I've got 2 of the 10 break in hours behind me. + I love to get my little ones on the water. I've spent all week pumping them up for this trip and they are ready to go.

Medina Lake is 20 or so miles west of San Antonio. It was built around 1910 and is the classic hill country rocky outcropping lake. I've caught crappie at night under lights with minnows on this lake but have never fished it in the day. It's about 35' low so there is a good opportunity to GPS some structure that is normally under water.

I'll try to take some pics for everyone. I know I enjoy seeing pictures of different lakes in this great country! The weather is supposed to be awesome. Hope everyone has a great fishing weekend.

    Hey Dude:

Have fun and be careful - probably some submerged hazards with the lake that low. I went right past the butt of a huge tree this morning that was just under the surface. I've been all over that area in the last few weeks since the lake has been down and just lucky I didn't hit it. Tomorrow I'm going to put some kind of a buoy on it so hopefully no one will hit it. It could do some serious damage.

That is very considerate of you to mark that obstruction. What do you use to mark these areas?

I ask because I saw a stump at Choke canyon that was 6" under the water and ran parallel to the surface. It's in an area that looks clear. I just happened to see it when I putt putted by. I'd like to mark it so others won't fly through there and kill themselves.

    Thanks

We'll probably use a piece of brightly colored swim noodle tied to a brick with enough line so it will stay put until the lake is high enough so the log is no longer a hazard. Folks may think it is a catfishing noodle or marker buoy on a brushpile but if they have any sense they won’t run over it. If they don’t have any sense they’ll get some real quick!

Awh, take them little ones on the water. Mine are getting older and sometimes more interested in football, trucks and girls than they are in ole dad. Make some memories that will last a lifetime.

Here's a link to an articles page on my website that's got a few stories that might motivate you even more to do so and if I did it right, bring a tear to your eye -- Enjoy!!!
