Default Close to the Ice /Pics

Up here its getting close to the end of the open water fishing. I made it out today. I had to do some icebreaking to get to the pond. The crappie were ready to eat when we got there. We boated 40 and a mess of white perch to top it off. All were released for the ice fishermen to play with. Who knows how much longer it will stay open. I will try to do it again soon. It was 28 when I left home. Warmed up to 41 when I loaded up.Name: DSC01241.jpg

Do you ice fish also or hang it up after a good deep freeze?

Up here we fish year round. Most times its about a 2 week time when the ice is setting up that we have to take a break.

That stinks that you wont be able to fish a while but it will push some ducks down if everything freezes over and that just fine with me this time of year.
