Default Tohatsu , welcome to the real world

Things finally worked out for me with my new 9.8 4 stroke Tohatsu. The Dealers info says that some of these motors are two (2) inches longer than standard but sold as standard length?? How can that be?? Well after I adjusted for the 2 inch difference in shaft length , my Motor runs like a Swiss Watch. Very nice indeed. so long story short Beware if you buy one, they are very good but Manfactured in Japan so be it.. If indoubt read FAQ section 17 on shaft length.. Have a nice day.. no longer for sale

Adjusted for it how? And not to sound dumb but what a 2 inch difference would make?

Glad it worked out. No different than the difference a jackplate can make on a big rig, too low the motor will "bog", too high it will "blow out", somewhere in the middle is the sweet spot, sounds like he found it.

The guys at iBoats .com were a great help. It's like this site only more down to earth issue's.. Two inches is a lot with these motors. I''m about 3/8 's high so I'll knock off 3/8's and it will fly ... and be good for another 20 years , but I won't be??? HA HA. Won't take long to make it perfect

Did they ever say why they build some with the extra length?

Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.
The two loudest sounds are a gun that goes bang when it is supposed to go click and one that goes click when it is supposed to go bang.

Page showing dimensions show 16.3 inches. Pretty confusing.
