Surprised? I think these invasives are going to be a huge threat to game fish populations all over this country. We now have schools of Bigheads in KY Lake that are several acres across. Even though they are supposedly filter feeders, you can't tell me they won't swallow fry or small of any species they suck in.

Article kind of confusing, Title says Asian carp then they say they found grass carp-sure grass carp form Asia but come on asian carp are the bigheads, and silver cap. grass carp have been used in states for years to control weeds etc.(usually they are fixed cannot reproduce) Maybe I am too old to read. Articles from Barth are about silver & big head and the only carp(your article) they found to reproduce are grass so ????? If I were to bet I would bet that silvers & bigheads have gotten n Lake Mich. thru Illinois river & canal system as the electric barrier leaves a lot to be desired plus there is no backup in service when barrier is shutdown for repairs what ever- in other words its only as good as the states politicians.

A very interesting video about Asian carp was posted on the Kansas board that may not have been seen by as many as might have been seen from the main board.

LBM, that is why I post these type things on the main forum, so that all can read, that could end up affecting everyone. Okay, I seen that it said grass carp, but wasn't sure if it is the ones that fly up in the air. When different parts of the country call the same fish different things, like crappie and gills, one can never be to sure, the type being referred to. One sometimes needs a playbook to be sure. So grass carp aren't bad then?

Grass Carp aren't "good", but pale in comparison to the destruction that can be caused by Silver & Bighead Carp. Their concern may have been that, seeing as how the Grass Carp had infiltrated & spawned, there is a greater likelihood that the other two are not long behind in getting into the Great Lakes.

Grass Carp are herbivorous fish ... aquatic plant eaters. Silver & Bighead Carp are filter feeders, plankton eating machines. Silver Carp are the ones that jump.
