Crappie fishing has been slow for us. The ones we catch are too small to keep. However we are catching a lot of sand bass and large mouth bass while fishing for crappie. We are also catching more catfish than normal.

We are finding them suspended in 20'-30' of water but they are not biting. I'm sure they would bite at sometime of the day but not while we are there.

I expect that to change soon as the water cools more and crappie move into more shallow water.

Getting better every day. Averaging 25-30 keepers over 12" most days.

Now that the lakes have turned over the fishing has been good for crappies. The fish are deep, podded up, and scattered in 25 to 33 feet of water. Slow trolling or vertical jigging a 1/8 once jig is a good producer. After turn over I like to keep my presentations a 1 1/2 inch or less. No live bait just a small piece of power bait for some scent.

Was out for a few hours today and put 27 keepers in the livewell. Southern pro twisters and big joshy swimbaits put some nice crappies in the box. Only saw 2 other boats the time i was out.
