    Default Tie Your Own Jigs?

I do. Check out my video at http://dedduck.com/dedfish/video-tying-jig-1.htm

I tie all of the jigs I use. It's pretty satisfying to catch a bunch of crappie (especially big ones!) on something you made with your own two hands.

Absolutely perfect. I like the way you started your thread before you applied the hair from the kiptail. I'm going to try that next time.

Nice video and I always get my thread caught on first too. It's like fly tying is done most of the time. I do use a whip finish though. Nothing wrong with the hitch though.

    Thanks guys!

I have a couple more videos regarding this, both shot from an angle directly in front of me.

willsjwills, I have but I prefer the calf's tail because it doesn't seem to get as matted down when wet. It holds it's "body" better so to speak.

Used that particular jig in the video and caught a ton of crappie today with my father. I believe the count was about 300 hand-size crappie with a lot of bigger (1lb+) mixed in.

Yeah, my jigs seem to hold up rather well. I've been fishing with the same pink and white jig for nearly three fishing seasons now.. and I use it almost exclusively.
