Default The Fall Bite is here!

Up here in PA, the crappie have the "feed bag" on!

I'm having good catches with deep water jigging. The best for me is MicroSpoons plastic, 1" white tubes, and Gulp Alive minnows.

    Tight Lines,

For real. I'm catching mine in 6 to 8' water. Never fished 42' for crappies. Glad you caught em.

One of my favorite Fall/Winter lakes has an old strip mine attached to the Northern end of it. When the water gets South of 50 degrees the fish stack up in there like cord wood. You can catch them anywhere from 20ft., to dead on the bottom in 60ft of water. It's funny seeing them suckers roll over on their side with the bends from coming up too fast!!

Move them out to the first dropoff and they'll hunker down in the brush. Found some monday in 13ft.

    chaunc,

Same here! I usually catch Crappie with a slip float and 6' of line with a small jig and a small plastic minnow.

In the spring, I catch hundreds in all the coves that way. Even all winter (with no ice of course) I catch them in 10' of water suspending 6' down.

This lake is 5' down while they are fixing the dam. It has the crappie all messed up. I have a fish finder, so I can see where they are.

    Pepop,

It makes me zip the lining in my hooded jacket! LOL I was out again today, and I nailed them in 30' of water! No cover, but they seem to school up about 10' from the bottom in 45' of water.
